I'm saying some feel he could improve, it's up to him if he agrees and listen to the opinions he fancies.

Improve how, using what evaluative criteria?

Quote from: Philo on April 15, 2026, 08:19:25 AMIt is clear he has a of respect for the work and took this recording seriously.

I would never question his seriousness or his respect for the works he performs and records.  I just dislike a good portion of what I have heard from him, or at least find some of it meh.  I will say that I have heard some encores from him on the radio that show him in a different light, including some Chopin Mazurkas that were very fine.  I also watched an interview with him that was quite free form where he or the interviewer would mention a piece, and then he'd play a portion on the spot.  It was a stylistically varied group of pieces, and he clearly knew his stuff.  He has certainly found a way to capitalize on his talent and turn it into wider recognition, especially in China, which is perfectly fine.  He can and should play exactly what he wants, the way he wants.  People are free to like or dislike it.

I'm listening to the man's 2025 album, Piano Book 2, fantastic playing!
