Well, I've been 'playing' w/ my new 'widescreen' monitor in the office today - I make a lot of PowerPoint lectures for my residents, and need to view & incorporate images into the PP panels - so I brought up some of these images into Picasa - below is a 'screen capture' from the new monitor - I'm amazed at 'how many' of these thumbprints fit into one screen for perusal; for any needing this type of viewing 'real estate', the size & widescreen are indeed impressive!  Now, I must not bring my wife into the office to see this monitor, she'll want I for home!  ;D   P.S. for those curious, the images shown are from a lecture on the stomach -  :D

Picasa sure is cool - you know that you can use the slider at bottom right to shrink/enlarge the thumbnails and thereby fit more/less onto the screen?

Rob - thanks for the comments - I've not played w/ that feature much but will certainly give it a try the next time I need to view a bunch of images; sure makes sorting a 'quicker' job!  Dave  :)

Mahler, Klimt and... is that Franz Werfel?

Edit: Definitely not Werfel. Who is it?

I have had this cute imp on mine for a while, I don't usually like full screen ones, but he reminds me of my cat.

Nicolas Poussin - The Judgment of Solomon

I had never even heard of Poussin until someone here at the forum mentioned him. His use of color is otherworldly.

This is my current desktop. As you can see, it has the first page of a lovely autograph manuscript of a famous piece of music. I think it is large enough to read, so if anyone wants to take a stab at it, see if you can figure out what it is.

Hint: I left Mozart's signature in the top right corner... :)

Magnolia Gardens near Charleston, SC and on the Ashley River (a number of other planatations on that road, such Middleton Gardens & Drayton Hall) - took that pic a few years ago on a trip -  :)

Oh goodness!  That just screams for a cover-op for a Brilliant Classics box set!   :D

Indeed, change is good. This one was taken in one of the bath complexes in Pompeii. I want to say that it was the Forum Baths, as the Stabian facility isn't as well-preserved if memory serves. Not terribly inventive, but for the location.

Is this the new apple computer?

I remember seeing this photo in 'Mahler in Vienna', a long time ago. What struck me then was the cigarette in Mahler's hand... I don't know who the third man is (I googled 'Peter Altenberg', another Viennese celebrity - wasn't him).

Assuming it isn't CGI, what church is this?

As for me, I use one of these generic Windows Vista desktop images (the one with the forest).
