When it comes to seafood, I only like the way the Cantonese does it. :P

Cantonese cuisine is exquisite! :)

It is, but being in the dining paradise that I am, being the lucky guy that I am, many different cuisines and wonderful restaurants are found everywhere in the city, so I've learned to appreciate a wide-variety of foods. German Weiner sausages, for example. :) American steaks and french fries...japanese sashimi....HMM I'm so hungry now! :D

Creamed corn. Just looking at a bowl of this is enough to make me toss my cookies.  :P

(East) Indians are to be found anywhere on the globe. I even came across an Indian girl here in the Netherlands... (and still together after 14 years... ;)) Authentic Indian food is delicious I can testify to that, seafood dishes especially from Southern India. Mmmhh it's still early in the morning here but I'm getting hungry already!  ;D

For what? For seafood, or for the Indian girl, you dirty old man?
;D
No, seriously now, that's great to hear...wow...14 years, that is an achievement in itself. My longest relationship lasted 5 years...I thought that was pretty good, by modern standards, but it really isn't that long to what other people have achivieved in that field  :(

May have been noted, but LIVER is the debil's food.

Siedler

Mmm, liver sausage is good.  :) I hate liver steaks, though.

With durian, only the smell is unpleasant. In Indonesia I had candied durian and durian ice cream that was really nice .

From Wiki :

Along with an unpleasant odor, durian is known for its spiky protective cover. Inside the fruit there are several segments, each of which has seeds encased in a pulp whose texture is similar to custard. Although it is something of an acquired taste, Durian is used in ice cream and candy.

What do you think is the future for the fast food industry?  With the increased health awareness, what do you think are some of the implications this may hold for McDonalds, Burger King, ? etal..

At least for here in North America, I foresee a similar fate for the fast food industry as has been occurring with the tobacco industry (ie. having to spend millions/billions? on advertising and health warnings against their own products).

What do you think?  :)

Not to say that they didn't come from hell initially...

So does this apply to McDonald's salads?  What about a Big Mac compared to a Ribeye steak at Smith & Wollenky's or Fettucine Alfredo at Carrabas'?  Or is the nanny state is all about class predjudice?

Renfield

What is that? :o (Lethe)

Aptly enough, the first picture reminds me of the maggot lair in Act 2 of Blizzard's (most venerable 0:)) Diablo II.

Tripe and brawn - relics from an age when food was not in plentiful supply, and yet some chefs will try to convince people that they are still worth eating ;_:

I do not often use the term, but they look disgusting!

(As if I did not make that clear enough, above. :P)

You're putting burgers and cigarettes on the same level?

People are probably buying more fast food than ever, because it's cheap. Tobacco has zero nutritional value, not burgers.

I don't think ChamberNut is putting the two on the same level.  He foresees the government requiring advertising and warnings for fast food similar to those required of tobacco companies.  I too see this as a real possibility, although I don't agree with it.  Just look at the numerous bans on trans-fats and New York's proposed "obesity tax" on sugar sweetened beverages.  ::)

What kind of warning? Nutritional information is easy to obtain; Carl's Jr has been posting it in their restaurants for years.

Probably something like this:  "WARNING: Diets high in fat increase your risk of heart disease and other health complications, including death."

I hereby claim the copyright to this in case any of you writes stupid government warnings. ;D

Information on the dangers of tobacco is easily obtained as well, but that doesn't stop the government from requiring warnings.  I'm certainly not defending such warnings, nor the "nanny state" as bwv 1080 aptly referred to it.  But unfortunately, I suspect ChamberNut is correct about the future of fast food.

No, that is not what I meant with my post.  What I'm saying, is that perhaps I foresee the government stepping in and doing what they did similarly with cigarettes.  I don't agree with the "nanny state", but that seems to be the trend these days with government. :-\

Speaking of Chinese food.  One time i accidentally tried this "dessert" at a Chinese all-you-can-eat buffet.  It's tastes like rice pudding but also contains imitation CRAB MEAT!.

AS far as I am concerned, there's nothing that tastes a godawful as liver, whether beef, chicken or whatever. It makes me gag.  Yuck !!!
