I work in the ugliest of buildings imaginable  :-\

Fortunately it will be teared down quite soon! ;D ;D

This will be the new building, don't know if it's any improvement.... ::)

They have just finished the foundations for the new building (old building is the white tower on the left)

Now this is where I want to work! ;D  The old location - the building from 1883 is now used as office space for the lower house of parliament.

Why can't you play classical?
I can, but it wouldn't work for most patrons  :-\ The only classical that would -perhaps- work in the mornings could be some generic baroque music which I don't prefer myself  ;D

Sean

I'm working for eight more days at a college in S.Korea. What I've doing here I'm not entirely sure- the culture is completely alien, but very considerably less alien than my 'home' country.

Sean

Mn Dave's Tower of Bable is the place where we all work though.

Ha! I used to work in a little Italian place myself, and I tried to sneak in some classical music during business hours. Much to the chagrin of my boss (who wasn't keen on it and much protested but actually let me get away with a lot) and most customers. But we had a reputation for the eclectic (and the high art of customer-abuse), so it didn't hurt sales. Or at least not as much as our "customer service is optional" attitude.  ;D

Yeah, I guess you are right. I was thinking some Italian composers, Vivaldi, Verdi, Scarlatti, Albioni, Boccerrini, Clementi, Puccini, etc. But IIRC, your pizza shop is going for authentic Brooklyn, not authentic Italy. So yeah, Billy Joel, etc fits in much better.

Funny how people object to classical, for even back when I didn't listen to it, it never bothered me to hear it in stores. What used to (and still does) bother me is either pop music that either didn't suit my tastes or has been played to death. Oh yeah, the worst is loud dance music  ::) not very good for digestion.  :-\ Actually, volume is key I think, too loud and it's too imposing. Too quiet and you can't quite make it out.

What a shame for you Q.  The old building is indeed an unremarkable creation - but the new building...well...it just looks like the old building with another skyscraper stuck on top of it and a few others for good measure.   :(

I commute regularly to work:  The first picture shows me getting a lift to work.  The second picture shows my place of work.  The third shows my colleagues discussing the latest Chandos release.  The fourth is what I see coming home from work.

I feel a strange, illogical attraction to these pictures...

It must be nice to work with beings who appreciate music.

At least your building has a white picket fence.  Did you ever think of washing it?

Que's building is across the ave from the US embassy, which is why the whole area is terrorist proof. Even the neighbourhood grocery has this picket fence.
