Well. as you board members probably realise from my username, that I play in a brass band(bb).

Although bb's are amatuer, we still take pride in what we do. As far as ensemble playing goes, tuning etc etc...

Yes, we play in contests as well. A necessary part of the bb's work. Since the beginning of the year, we have been rehearsing for two contests. one has just been completed, although we were not in the prizes, we thought we did a pretty good job of it, infact, 4barsrest.com(a bb internet paper), thought our placing rather harsh. So it wasn't just us! The last contest we played in was on the 21st March 2009. We have another one on 05/04/09, in brighton & Hove(Hove Town Hall). Also another in May.

We have, sometimes at least 3 rehearsals a week at this time of year, or anyother busy time, plus sectionals as well! It feels like another job, really, but hey we are still amateurs.

Do anyother members find the same thing with their activities?

In terms of 'on the job time' an orchestra musician has it pretty good.  Keeping up my regular practice schedule always feels like a chore though.
