Those three are not necessarily choices I would have made...

If that mega-box set ever goes on sale for less than $45, I will buy it.  ;D

Do you think with Harry's wealth he would ever consider not buying? Better to have heard THE recording than not when possible. >:D

Considerings Harry's wealth, this box will cost me 80 euro's, so I can afford to give some of those records I do not like, and there are a few, to other people and make them happy.
How's that. :) for sharing wealth?

Some purchases recommended by forumites, plus one of Gramophones' "must hear" Haydn discs:

For anyone considering the Kondrashin Mahler box, be aware the packaging is old school: each symphony is in a separate, full-size jewel box. I prefer that but for those concerned with space it might be an issue.

the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

The Bischoff's are marvelous discoveries Sarge, as is the Wilms.  :)

Yes, looking forward to hearing them. I'm listening to the Haydn right now. What a marvelous symphony #92 is!

Bought from Hyperion's reduced-price bottom ten sale after today's update:
http://www.hyperion-records.co.uk/al.asp?al=CDA67093

It's not profound; not important; but sounds like attractive easy listening for a summer afternoon.

What bothers me, though, is that at this rate the entire future of my listening habits may come to be dictated by the CDs offered for peanuts in Hyperion's ever-changing sale.

I guess you can come to some sort of middle ground by combining their offers of Shostakovich and Simpson with Gibbs & co $:) I could see the risk of it becoming a collection of lots of English light music that nobody else wants if you don't take such measures :P

Today my local TV news station said that Lowell Liebermann has died. But there are no such reports on the internet. Maybe there are two Lowell Liebermanns?

Taken on its own, I admit it looks a bit soppy. But I also ask the jury to take into consideration the fact that I bought this from the previous set of bargains:

This might raise my overall street cred just above the danger line. Or it may dig me into a deeper hole, for all I know.

If you ever consider Maazel's Mendelssohn not worthy of enthronment on your shelves, I'd gladly consider an adoption process      ;)

I have no idea; although, as a principle I tend not to consider television a reliable source of any useful or accurate information.  $:)

Maybe they even compose music together in stereo!
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.
