PS: Oh, just for Harry, I will listen to a few operettas as well -- Merry Widow, Land of Smiles...

Ohhh, that is so good from you, that way I will not feel entirely alone when I listen to operetta.
Thank you Paul! :)

Oops my 13.000 post. Not bad for a operetta lover. ;D

Just for your 13,000th post, I will add Der Zarewitsch, my latest discovery, to the list! I got a DVD last week.

Which performance would that be Paul?
I order in a steady stream new, well old operetta recordings, the latest one being a original Lehar recording from 1942, for too much money, but its quite a marvelous recording.

It is a DG DVD with Stratas. Marvelous singing (I got a glimpse of that from the video Stratasphere which I have had for a long long time).

There are some specific choices - in tempi, for example - that I don't like too much, but in general I consider it as an excellent recording, Harry. I don't listen too often to the Lieder ohne Worte, but recent discussions ;) led me to play them today. They are really beautiful.

Excellent choice, to my ears one of the best recordings of this work.

I have a weak spot for these performances, a bit strangely recorded, but so Tchaikovskian in sound.
Never bought other recordings, these still do well for me, never heard them better performed.

On the radio, the Beethoven Seventh Symphony, which I love and which never fails to put a smile on my face! Haitinck conducting, but I don't off-hand remember which orchestra.

Also on the radio, The Moldau, and after that, a bit of Vivaldi, as this week's CD of the week features Vivaldi oboe concerti.
