Good Bruckner Morning, Todd. I'm listening to the 8th (Scherzo, as I type) of Jochum conducting the Bamberg SO -- I'm sure you're familiar with the recording. :) I returned to Bruckner after a many-month-long hiatus a couple of days ago.
Regards,
Navneeth

It's always nice to return to Bruckner from a hiatus, no matter how long it may be.  :)

I think you had better luck than I did in choice of recording.   :(

Well, my 175 CD order from Abeille Musique arrived, containing the complete works of Rachmaninoff and Chopin and 110 CDs of Brilliant Classics' "Historic Russian Archives." To celebrate, I've just put on the Shostakovich Fifth recording from the Evgeny Mravinsky Edition.

Bach's Christmas Oratorio conducted by Ralf Otto on the Capriccio label - a stirring and vibrant performance.

It is glorious.
I am dead already.

mahler10th

Oops...
It is still glorious and I am still dead.

A very fine performance, that can almost match Kees Bakels accounts on BIS.

I've not heard the Chailly recording, but Jochum was good.  :D

Another proof that Bach's organ works:

Gillian Weir playing a.o. Bach's third Clavier-Übung.
Right now I'm listening to the so-called Große Orgelmesse, one of my all-time faves. To me, these works got E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. :)

Most intense and exciting moment (again): the (entrance of) the coda of Kyrie, Gott heiliger Geist BWV 671. Always leaves me flabbergasted.
