Ain't nowt wrong with trance music, Kevin. ;)

I probably listen to more trance than classical, but I am really not a huge music fan.

A-ha: Take me on
Foreigner: I wanna know what love is
The Cars: Drive
Duran Duran: Save a prayer

All very good tunes, especially Save a Prayer

Well, I listen to a number of different genres but don't consider any of them 'guilty pleasures'. But I do enjoy these threads :)

However I bought a cd for my niece's 11th birthday recently and gave it a spin and found myself quite enjoying it in a dumb pop kinda way. I didn't 'burn' myself a copy [but I nearly did ;)] but I have checked out their videos on YouTube a few times. Not a 'guilty pleasure' exactly but headin' in that direction...

Martika -ah yes, i remember the crush i had on her when she first appeared on Top of The Pops.  I was in in college doing my A-levels.  Had posters of her all over my bedroom wall.

And the pet shop boys.  Loved their music.  Had it all on tape.  But you know i never went on to buy the cds to replace them and have not bought any of their newer cds. Shame really as i still love them.

Morrisey - everyday is like monday.  See the video on Youtube, crank up the volume and remember more innocent days.  Love this song.

What about poor old Glen Medeiros (spelling?).  Whatever happened to him? Was having my hair cut last week and his song "nothings gonna change my love for you" came on.......happy days.

Those late 80's films 'Mannequin' with Andrew Mccarthy and "about last night" with Rob Lowe and Demi moore-sizzling hot.  And don't forget 'Weird Science' with Kelly LeBrock.  Wonderful memories of these films.

Yes, I enjoyed the PSB's back in the late 80s. Great melodic, synth pop. :)

What is supposed to be wrong with Clannad to make their music a secret pleasure?

I attended a highland funeral where the only music was a track by Clannad, it was haunting and gave me gooseflesh. I have not looked out for their music since, but that one track put them on the map for me.

I listen to Salsa music, but I know nothing about it...seems fine to me, but is a bit away from my usual stuff...I also really enjoy Pink Martini, but again, nothing guilty about it.

this is a cunning way of avoiding embarrassment. Instead of ignominiously admitting like the rest of us suckers, you swoop in to confirm a poster's "taste". Uh huh. You're tricking no one my friend :)

- Techno / electronica: I've never bought any techno / electronica recordings (although I have a Matthew Shipp CD and an Alexander Balenescu CD that some may classify as techno, I guess), but I will admit I enjoy some of this stuff when I'm out and having a drink or two at a bar or eating at some wanna-be trendy restaurant. Some of it is actually quite funny in a self-mocking sort of way.

- MUSAK: Again, I've never bought any musak, but when hearing it at airports or some other public place, I like how it sort of zaps my brain and makes me feel very relaaaaaaxed.

- Little Richard: I hate rock for the most part, but this is as close as I get. I think this guy was absolute genius in his own way.

I listen to many kinds of music from easy to difficult but I am never ashamed of anything I listen to and like. If I find the music revevant in any way I regard it good and listening to it is okay.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

:-[   o.k., o.k. ....       I enjoy Tears for Fears, The Monkees, Simon and Garfunkel, Gordon Lightfoot, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, The Association, 10CC, Steely Dan, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and a host of other pop groups I've listened to since I was a kid. While I'm not as familiar with the popular music of today, I'm exposed to a lot of it by my 13-year old son and I think the tune "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley is one of the best pop tunes in decades. "Where Have all the Cowboys Gone" by Paula Cole is one of the best pop songs ever. One of my summer projects is to convert my vinyl albums to CD, especially the obscure stuff that I'll probably never be able to find issued on disc. And, like many others stated, I really don't consider these guilty pleasures. I bet the majority of posters here have musical interests other than classical, and of the few who say they don't, half of them are posturing.   :o   0:)

Ha! You guys don't know anything about guilty pleasure. Frank Sinatra? Clannad? Little Richard? CSN? No one need feel guilty about that great music.

Now me, I know what true guilty pleasure is...I like Bow Wow Wow and Annabella! And yes, I feel deep, deep shame and guilt  ;D

This is the cover of Bow Wow Wow's first album, See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang Yeah, City All Over! Go Ape Crazy!

I really enjoy listening to classical music. Among my friends it feels like a guilty pleasure...

Franck, Symphony in D.  Stokowski, the patron saint of guilty pleasures, made the best recording, of course.  And I also recently picked up a Klemperer Lp.  Looking forward to hearing that.

Berlioz, Symphonie funebre et triumphale

Sorry, missed the non-classical bit at the beginning.

Um, Thompson Twins, I suppose.  They seem to get grief, but seems like fun pop music to me.

Harry

Todd Rundgren, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Mother Finest, Clifford T Ward, Nick Drake, and one recent guilty sinful pleasure was and still is Laura Pausini, o man she takes the......out of me. Bought a  DVD from her, with a fabulous concert. Love that really.
Hell freezes over concert, also a guilty pleasure, Bee Gees, and o, yes a dvd filled with all the ABBA hits.
Never told this to anyone, but this is GMG right, no harm done! ;D

George

Fleetwood Mac, Quiet Riot, Def Leppard.
