I'll post this one, even though I do not feel all that guilty about it:

There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

The music of Sir Arthur Sullivan
Not Gilberts lyrics. Just Sullivans music.
This afternoon, I played a disc containing 10 overtures to their operas
Including Yeoman of the Guard. Mikado. Pirates of Penzance, Iolanthe, Priness Ida, Patience. Overture DeBallo,  etc.

Lovely, light, tuneful, entertaining, exceedingly well recorded and played. Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Alexander Ferris conducting. Nimbus Records. Perfect music for a hot summer afternoon.Much more enjoyable than Boulez, Bartok, Carter, Ligeti and any other atonal crappers.
"Good", is NOT good enough, when "better" is expected
