The singing is great IMO.  I never thought I would necessarily enjoy music from the 1200's.

BTW, I am also missing quite a number of shipments from both MDT and Presto Classical whose ship dates ranged from a week before Christmas to right after the New Year.  I don't know, between the Royal Post and the USPS, something has gone wrong in a big way as many people on both sides of the Atlantic have been having the same problems, i.e. missing shipments from one side of the Atlantic or another ...     >:(

Yes. With the holidays and all the winter storms this year (2 on east coast just this past week), it has been a problem.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Another potentially huge snowstorm is heading to the northeast by next Tuesday ...

Recently I sent a mail to Presto Classical complaining that an order not yet had reached me 14 days after the shipping notification. Usually it takes about 6 days. They answered back about the winter-problems and I was told to write again if I did not receive it within the next FOUR weeks. :o  Fortunately it arrived un safe condition the next day.
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

Now playing CD5 - T6 (conclusion, an unfortunate breakup from CD4) and T5, the last CD from this set for a first listen ...

You are lucky.  My orders from Presto Classical that were shipped on 1/4 and 1/5 still did not show up with today mail delivery.  My MDT order from 12/17 has been re-shipped since it is probably lost for good.  Hopefully, the new orders placed earlier in the week will arrive safe and sound.  Not a happy camper here ...   :(

Since everyone (or at least, some) is listening to it

Not a huge fan of Bruckner.  At least, not yet.

Villa-Lobos - Forest of the Amazon w/ Heller & Renee Fleming - just arrived & first listen -  :D

A fine work and recording. You should also hear John Neschling's account of this work.

Some of my favorite Dvorak recordings right there. Outstanding in every way.

Now playing CD1 from this set for a second listen.  This set and the set by Rosalyn Tureck on DG are considered by some the best piano versions for WTC.  I grabbed this set brand-new a few months ago and it appears to be OOP at this point ...

This is becoming one of my favorite violin concertos of the contemporary era. On the last movement right now, I swear towards the end it sounds like Bartok on steroids. :D

This is my sixth time listening to this work and it just keeps getting better and better. I liked the work when I first heard it, but I didn't enjoy as much as I do now. I would seriously like to hear more orchestras play this work. Esa-Pekka and the LA Philharmonic do wonders with this music though, but I'd love to hear the Cleveland Orchestra or the CSO smoke this piece.
