M8 - CBSO/Rattle - dolby/dts Surround Sound - possible problem?

I just received the above dvd disc, and was listening to it quite happily, when suddenly, in Part II, where the orchestral introduction ends and the choir enters, there's about a second dropout and as the player changes tracks (from Piu mosso to Waldung sie schwankt heran). I'm not sure if this is a defect in the CD, the recording or what. Any help/input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Most DVDs are dual layer. Normally, feature films (as an example) will have a slight pause in picture and sound as the second layer is accessed during playback. This is probably what you experienced. It's perfectly normal.

I was thinking layer change, but was ruling that out, since this isn't a video performance, rather a surround sound remastering of the audio CD.

It is indeed - so the layer change would certainly apply. Thanks for the help.

As a side note, it's pretty nice to have the libretto on screen and timed with the English subtitles, so I don't have to rifle through any liner notes for them.
