Finally today I managed to get one, then had the utmost difficulty in getting it to log me on.  Several passwords later I made it

Perhaps the boss could take a look?  Not very friendly if the Forum won't let new members in.

Being selective about which spambot we let in is not the same as being unfriendly! We can do that too, but don't necessarily like to without cause.   Your initial attempt to join, if a few weeks ago, came in the middle of an attack on the forum by spammers, which rendered many user names and passwords no longer functional. Thus, I am rather surprised you got in at all without a new registration! 

That said, welcome now. What do you like?  Classical Era, I hope....
