I have learned - I don't know how - never to judge a composer on whether he has been recorded much!  ;D Mirror Image will have the facts, I don't doubt, as our resident missionary Koechlinite...

I don't have the facts, but I'm just as baffled by the lack of recordings as anyone else, but this, as you have mentioned, has nothing to do with the quality of the music.

Thanks, Sara.  I've frankly been shy to try out the Zinman recording of all the Jungle Bookery, but the Dr Fabricius and orchestral Heures persanes recordings by Holliger do sound very well done.

When I do feel I should want another Koechlin recording, I may give this one the nod.

You still haven't listened to The Jungle Book yet, Karl? ??? Man, you should listen to it as soon as possible!

How did I guess you should say that? : )

Georg Friedrich Haas: Wer, wenn ich schriee, hörte mich... (1999) (Who, if I cried out, would hear me...) (Collegium Novum Zürich / Martin Lorenz, percussion / Enno Poppe, conductor) - Fascinating, still processing it. Seems spectrally composed, but there may be other things going on.

Apparently two Amazon reviewers didn't care too much for this recording. One person even said that the music sounded like it was performed by Lindberg's computer. ::) I think Lindberg is still a composer that evokes a good bit of controversy and leaves listeners divided. I'm onboard with his new direction in music. If he continues to compose music as good as this recording and the one with Graffiti, then I'll continue my journey with the composer.

seeing the Koechlin talk inspired me to listen, this is the only recording I have, recommended by MI of course, and it's wonderful. More discs in the mail and on their way.

Love the Boulez/Schoenberg recordings on Sony Classical, inexpensive and tons of music.

Some morning Mozart while eating a muffin with jalapeno-jelly and sipping coffee on the porch.  Perfect.

Jalapeño jelly, eh?  My recent discovery has been a lovely Mango Pepper Jelly with red chilis (not on the order of jalapeños, to be sure . . . .)
