Why does this remind me of that recurrent skit on Saturday Night Live, "The Continental" with Christopher Walken.

There is no reason why sex should not occur during daytime. Since the day was spent by your side without anything physical taking place, it may be best to think that she just wasn't interested in having sex with you (or perhaps with anyone for that matter).

Sure, Orbital; unfortunately though we had to leave the accommodation in the morning.

I sometimes wonder if the Divine couldn't have made the feminine divine a bit less of an all-round hassle.

No way, I think girls want to have sex just as much as men do.
but it depends on with WHO......

Well, to women Sean must be eye-candy so there must be something wrong with her.

Yes, it is not just his self awareness that needs to be raised.

High-O!

Seriously, though, I'm not entirely sure that one should advertise their sexual misadventures on a more-or-less public Interweb forum. Imagine if a small child stumbled down the wrong series of tubes! The shame, the ignominy! Of course, knowing most kids 12-25, they might be able to help our dear OP out. You know, with small talk:

"Hello, how are you? Would you like to go get a drink? Perhaps some salt cod fritters [applicable if you're near Campo dei Fiori, though the booze prices at the Drunken Ship and the Bacchanale are outrageous, better to get a couple bottles of Peroni from one of the pizza places nearby or the liquor store on the other side of the square], my dear?"

[wait a couple days]

"Gee, it was nice hanging out the other night. Perhaps you'd like another insanely expensive drink? No, well, I have some Biere du Demon back in my room. Yeah, it's the 12% one. No, it's not bad. Kind of sweet, but an acquired taste. Perhaps I can assist in the acquisition."

It's called courting, and most people like to be pursued a little bit. Unless they're in the trade of not being pursued. Then, it's probably called a crime.

Or rather how not to: just had a week at this place in Italy, and cutting the story short the party included six girls in their late twenties, two of which I got on with well (I'm 38). Girl 1, who I'd got some chemistry going with first but neglected in favour of girl 2, then slept with this guy in his mid forties- who was running the place and giving orders. There was only one evening available to go for something, after a meal out: I call girl 2 over at an appropriate moment and keeping cool: '...I really like your personality, and you look stunning tonight...I've got a couple of things I'd like to show you in my room if you'd like to come down, kind of a surprise...it'll be okay...' (candle and insense sticks).

She nods enthusiastically but then understands what I'm saying, and to my surprise becomes rather shy, disappearing outside to the table to cower and attend to her fingernails. I've come across this before, but wasn't expecting it and have been wondering what else I could've done- perhaps thinking faster and asking her to stay and talk, as she wasn't going to take the opportunity to come back when I left the table to hang around. Another evening might have been good, as the next morning she comes over with the most excited and pleased excuses, and spends much of the day by my side.

In the night I had to put up with girl 1 next door having what was obviously pretty mediocre sex and making sounds with the sole purpose of me overhearing. The older guy had talked with her for four or five hours straight before making a move- a bit much I thought, but maybe I had something to learn there.

That you feel the need to share means there is something mentally wrong with you. Who knows, maybe your gay and this is the way you try to fight it.

and people wonder why the female to male ratio on the forum is low......

Aren't they fascinating?  :D

I find women much more interesting than men in general. And I don't mean "interesting" in a patronizing way.
I root for nurture in the nature vs nurture debate, and I would be very happy to see the way women are brought up change completely, even though that would mean that things I find fascinating about them would cease to exist ::)

We should recognise his effort. This time the story is not about sex trips to Asia, involving underage girls.
