The box, no. I've got one of the pre-box issues, though.

The Webern Boulez box on DG comes with a remarkable booklet that's very informative and the performances, of course, are all excellent.

We all have issues. Mine are box-related.

A stunning recording of music from a composer I feel to be one of the most tragic in all of classical music. Her untimely death was a crushing blow as her full potential had yet to blossom.

So much to enjoy here:

"I don't at all mind actively disliking a piece of contemporary music, but in order to feel happy about it I must consciously understand why I dislike it. Otherwise it remains in my mind as unfinished business."

A few years ago, I read that Ute Lemper has made NY her residence and performed on Broadway on a regular basis.  Not sure if this is still the case ...

Another Ute Lemper fan here. In 2008 I saw her at Carnegie Hall with the Toronto Symphony in Kurt Weill's The Seven Deadly Sins. The microphones were cranked up a bit too loud (i.e., distortion at high levels) but she sounded wonderful.

Now listening to:

Marcel Tyberg: Symphony No. 3 (JoAnn Falletta / Buffalo Philharmonic) - Mahler-esque, but Tyberg seems more like a full-blown Romantic, without Mahler's chaos or angst. Anyway, definitely worth hearing.

Listening to Floral Suite. This is very good indeed.

On a recent flight I saw a film, The Cemetery Junction, which took Vaughan Williams' Five variants of 'Dives and Lazarus' as its theme.  Brilliant film - Ricky Gervais describes it as his love letter to England - which is enhanced by wonderful music.

So, now re-visiting the music:

Just like the following set, which I bought a few months ago, this William Mundy CD is excellent ...

Listening to some of the new Virgin Classics recordings newly available on Naxos Music Library. This one has a particularly fetching Op. 30 No. 3.
