Your CD buying has really slowed down a lot John! - do you feel you are nearing completion with your Classical Collection?.
These recordings look interesting too - I really liked Inkinens Disc of Siblius Orchestral Works :)

Yeah, Conor, you bring up an interesting point. No, I really don't feel I'm done collecting classical music, but I do feel, however, that the bulk of my collection is already locked into place. Everything I've been adding over the past year and half has really just been feeling in gaps, but I'm also always on the lookout for unusual repertoire. My purchasing has slowed down because I haven't really found anything I wanted to buy that I already didn't own or just simply don't want.

Speaking of CD buying slowing down, I've also noticed a decrease in your classical purchases as well. Are you in the same boat I am in?

Yes, I have pretty much all the Classical Music I could want at the moment so I have slowed down on the purchases quite a bit :)
Theres always good new stuff coming out though so I wont say I am done collecting just yet! - Like yourself I have been interested in Non-Classical Music again too and have made most of my recent purchases there :)

Classical music isn't the only kind of music I like, so when I went on a classical listening spree, I was really on kidding myself because I like rock and jazz a lot and have really missed out on some good music.

I have the Blu Ray set, but the CD edition is just irresistible:

Bought this Sibelius BIS recording for $4 like new, I haven't heard either of these compositions in their entirety, so this will be a nice surprise:

I'm on search for more BIS orchestral recordings that aren't included in The Essential Sibelius box set I bought a year or so ago. May the search begin... 8)

Just bought three more for great prices:

Sergeant Rock

Arrived today from an Amazon seller: Haydn The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross, the original version for orchestra. Brüggen conducting.

Sarge
the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

Interesting cover there, Sarge.  Report on the Haydn thread when you have a review so I do not miss it.

The new erato

It's already mentioned a couple of times in the listening to thread.

Geo Dude

I decided I should get it while I could.  I doubt I will have any regrets.

Sarge, for the first split second glance, I thought this was a Karajan lizard Sarge photoshop cover!  :D

One day offer on "Contemporary Music" at europadisc, so I ordered this at 25% off!

Not exactly contemporary I know, but I've always found Hindemiths operas pleasant listening with their excellent orchestration, ever bubbling counterpoint and wacky/philosophical librettos (or should that be libretti?).

A few

Now I get to tell you that's a fine recording you've ordered!

The same horn player, van der Zwart, is the soloist on the Freiburger Barockorchester recording of Mozart's Horn Concertos 1 and 4.

This was one of the reasons I ordered it Jeffrey, and the samples I heard. Have really high expectations of it. :)
Thank for the thumbs up!  8)

They have an ongoing half-price sale in the same manner as Hyperion, although the offerings are larger and updated less frequently - it's worth checking every few months or so, and to buy in bulk because the shipping isn't free:
