Hi guys, I've been listening to this CD on Spotify:

[asin]B000001KBA[/asin]

and love the arrangement of the Rachmaninov song :Op. 21: No. 9. Melodiya (Melody).

(what a gorgeous piece of music, I also love the transcription by Volodos and had to learn it as soon as I heard it!)

However, I really want to hear Heifetz himself playing this, but can't find any CDs or sources where he plays this.
Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Bob

As far as I can see, there is no Rachmaninov on either of the Decca Masters CDs

Could you post something showing the inclusion of the Rachmaninov song?

Many thanks!

Can anyone else help shed any light on this one? Thanks!

I've about 70 of Heifetz's CDs. and I can't found that particular piece. Sorry. But I have it by Sherry Kloss, one of his students and a very fine violinist. She recorded plenty of Heifetz's arrangements and transcriptions.

Not much help, I'm afraid. The previous MCA/Decca appear to now be on a two-fer from DG:

It has a number of Heifetz transcriptions, but not the one you are looking for (that I can see). It was a good guess though. If it is not out on RCA, there is not much else to find on CD unless there are other labels that are releasing past concerts and such (and then just need to get lucky, assuming it was ever recorded).
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

You assume Heifetz actually recorded it.

But I don't know such a recording nor could I find it browsing through the online discographies, so I doubt it.

Yes, I was scared he might not have recorded it, what a pity!

I had a quick listen to Sherry Kloss' version, but it's really not my taste I'm afraid... would have loved to have heard the great master play it.

Thanks for all the replies!
