I think self awareness of how one's actions make one appear to other people is a valuable thing.
Amen. If we are blind to our own faults, and unwilling to benefit from the kindness of others, then we are powerless to correct them and condemned to suffer their consequences.

You don't know this for a fact, which is what I've been saying all along. You're just speculating, which we all have done at this juncture.
What I gather is the real story is on amazon.com's discussion board reported by somebody who's actually talked to someone in command at i-Deals.

I guess a fair question would be has anyone actually contacted I-Deals to ask them what's going on?
from amazon.com's classical discussion board:

"Okay people, here's the skinny:

I just spoke to a very nice woman from i-Deals. She sounded like she had a terrible migraine, poor thing.

Many of the sensational prices we saw over the weekend were--not too surprisingly--a computer error. This is especially true of items marked as being on sale for $1.00, but apparently it's not limited to those items.

The company is dealing with the problem as best they can on their end, so there's nothing you need to do.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like the vast majority of items will be cancelled.

I know. I hear you. Please don't kill the messenger but feel free to give me an unhelpful vote. I didn't let the cat out of the bag, by the way: i-Deals has been aware of the problem since at least Sunday and has already received hundreds of emails."

Like never hooking up with that girl at work?

Well I've read through a good chunk of the thread and I'm still puzzled even the person who talked to I-Deals. I just don't know what to believe. It's all a "wait and see" thing. I hope I wait and see all my orders shipped. :)

A pretty vague reponse if you ask me. Nothing was said what was going to be done about their existing orders nor what they are doing to fix the problem so it doesn't happen again. I don't know if I believe this or not.

Nothing said, aside from:

It said it sounds like a vast majority of orders will be cancelled. It doesn't factually state they will be cancelled. Again, the ambiguity is interesting.

Nothing less than a congressional investigation with a 80,000 page report will do!

You are correct. A definite answer has not yet been revealed.  The answer given, however, is offered in the light of something stronger than mere speculation; call it an informed guess.

I've just received cancel notices on two of the five orders I placed on Sunday.  Anticipating more.

Ditto.

What was the status that Amazon was showing on those orders, "Shipping Soon?"  I have one showing shipped, one shipping soon.  No cancellations as of now.

Long story short: one order cancelled, called Amazon Customer Service, talked with one person who didn't know anything, he got the manager, she took care of the order that was cancelled by offering the items that were cancelled for $3 each plus free 2-day shipping, don't think I want to even fool with the rest if they're cancelled, but manager sent seller an email to them. They will be receiving negative feedback for the cancelled order and others if those get the axe as well.

Karl Henning

That's right: negative feedback whether it's their fault or no! That's so very helpful to other customers, isn't it?

Are you utterly impervious to reason?

You go past a shop and see that the owner has neglected to lock the door.  Well, you think, if he didn't want me to take everything in the shop he would have locked the door, no?  Of course, you come back with a wheelbarrow to cart it all away.  This is what MI refers to as being a "loyal customer."  And if the shop owner should come back and tell you that, in fact, you can't haul that stuff away, well, negative feedback is in order.

I'm not going to launch into my stance on this again. I have stated my opinions regarding sellers reneging on orders and I'm against it. That's what I believe. Sorry it doesn't coincide with what you believe, but I did what I thought was the right thing to do. I'm simply tired of companies that are allowed too much rope and leniency, so, in return, I did what I believe I had to do which was leave them negative feedback. In fact, I leave any seller negative feedback if they cancel an order on me. They already received one already. If they don't fulfill the rest of my orders, then more will follow. After this mess is over with, I'll never use I-Deals store again.

MI, it is clear that you have your stand and you are not gonna change it regardless. So the rest of the people should know now that they should stop even trying.

It should also be clear that just about everyone here would think otherwise. So just about everyone thinks that the right thing to do is otherwise.

So that's where everyone stands and that's where everyone will stay.
