Good morning Que, I am curious after this Brilliant release, somehow I missed this.

Willoughby earl of Itacarius

Peter Schreier singt Weinachtslieder. ( Christmas Carols)
Bought in 1974 as a LP, and in 1983 as a CD.

Sentimental yes, but not out of line with Christmas.  Peter Schreier is a excellent Tenor, and he brings over what people need these days, warmth!

From a recently issued 10 CD Sony box that I cannot locate at amazon.co.uk (bought mine from amazon.fr).

That must be the reissued set with Brüggen's recorder recordings? :)

First listen to this disc, and to Hahn. Simply outstanding singing, and very fine, though not extremely original, songs. Lovers of French Melodies (there must be some of you on this board???) ought to lap this disc up.

You may have been the one I responded to last week, but count me in. This is must-have for French melodies. Hahn can melt your heart.

My favourite recording of the Bach Christmas Oratorio - Harnoncourt.  I note that it was rated top in the latest Gramophone (which may or may nt be a good thing!)

Borodin: Symphony No. 2 In B Minor

Good morning all - listening to some Russian music. First up I am playing the Disc of Scheherezade/Borodin: Symphony No. 2 and then I will play Symphony No. 3 from the Karajan/Tchaikovsky 2-fer. To finish off I will play the Rimsky-Korsakov set which is a new one and I am keen to hear Symphony No. 2 again as I have liked that one the first couple of times I heard it.

This is one of my favourite Karajan Discs - he really makes the most out of the Andante I think. Great recording!  :D
