Some great composers are from this part of the world.
I'm barelt a tertiary metalhead these days, though I did listen to Countdown to Extinction today, great song (I might have missed it when I was more into this stuff 5-10 years ago, as I only really know Rust.. from Megadeth ).
And a good football game is always nice, preferably with a pint or two.

Yeah, metal is very popular here. I prefer Sibelius & Aho, though (and Lindberg and Raitio, even the odd doses of Saariaho sometimes)

Ah, so you like Pettersson too! His VC No 2 is, in my opinion, one of the greatest works of all time. I am visiting friends in Finland at the end of this month and hope to visit the home of Sibelius. Madetoja is another Finnish composer whom I admire (especially Symphony No 2). We do have similar tastes, other than in football. As I was born in Chelsea I have always supported them. Anyone who is not a supporter tends to hate them!
Anyway, once again, welcome to the forum and I hope that your Miaskovsky listenathon is still in full swing.
