Finally, we're discussing the real issue at hand. And you've been able to come up with the first argument in favour of separate threads that actually makes sense.

But if I remember correctly, the downloads bargain thread was started at the request of a few members (including yours truly), so that CD buyers weren't disappointed to find MP3 deals when they saw a new post here. ;D

I'm sure they'll survive the shock... ;)

Q

I framed it in a different way, that's all.

It is only when someone pointed the small defunct thread out as the appropriate thread to post MP3 bargains and thereby declaring this thread off limits, that IMO a confusing situation arose about the fact whether MP3 posts were allowed or not, hence the merger.
Q

Please go back to read my original post, Que -- I didn't declare, explicitly or otherwise, this thread "off limits" to MP3 bargains when I posted the link to the other thread. Another member wanted to know where that thread was.

I obviously remembered incorrectly, point taken, my bad. :)

I have reversed the merger and reinstate the oh so desired separate thread, as an experiment - to quote Scarpia. May it prosper...

At $5.99, one could argue there's no risk . . . but does anyone have an opinion on the Vox Box Chopin?

The Simon solo stuff (I haven't heard the concertos) and Moravec selections are top-shelf Chopin to my ears.  Klien strikes me more as a Germanic rep type of guy, but I can't imagine anything he recorded being poorly played.  At $6 for these artists, it's hard to see a downside.

Returning to my post of 7th June:-

'I have been alerted via the Bon Plans blog to bargains at Diverdi.com.  Spanish site but it does work in English.  60% off lots of stuff on the BIS label, and other labels discounted.  I ordered six items including a box set of 15 discs, all came to about 48euros plus 10 for delivery to the UK.  Prices when I completed the order were less than shown on the offer page. '

I have today eventually received a parcel from Diverdi containing 4 of the 6 items ordered.  I raised a dispute with Paypal last week as I had had no response to an email I sent Diverdi asking why I had heard nothing from them.  They replied that my order was about to be sent out, minus two discs that were sold out.  I have now replied, via Paypal requesting a refund for those two items.

Did anyone else order from them?  What happened?

Apologies if I have got anyone else into awkwardness.

Phil.

Mordkovich has a miraculously silky tone.  She has numerous other recordings not collected in that set which are well worth the price, even if they are not super-bargain.

Our Alan has, e.g., spoken most highly of her recording of the Elgar Op.82, and with justifiable confidence.

Not at all a deal-breaker, but I could not help a slight pang of regret that the second CD is so short, especially as there is more Prokofiev for vn/pf (or vn solo).

All the same, a wonderful four-CD program.

Such a decent bargain me thinks.  Main reason for me buying it is the Prokofiev as its been years since I last heard these works with Milstein on vinyl, warped vinyl at that.  One of those where the needle surfs on the record!!

Then my amp with the phono stage konked out and my Denon, Sony & long gone Technics (remember them)...well they came without a phono stage.  I guess I could get it on cd, but with this set its buy one get three free  :D

But we can't do much about Karl's retaliatory posts. :P

it could have been changed to Karl's Big Adventure for all I knew.

I'd vote for that manifesto.
