Excellent speedy replies, gentlemen! I'll repost the pics, so there's no need to go back and forth between pages:

1) Fearless...
...and not Twister ;D (Novitiate)
2) Possession (Drasko)
3) The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (orbital)
4) Donnie Darko (orbital)

(it's the title slide of Swayze's "presentation")
6) Gosford Park (papy)
7) The Remains of the Day (Drasko)

5) Hint: book adaptation which departs from the original by making one of the main characters (the one pictured on the right in the first photo) far more ambiguous than in the novel.

You really think badly of me now that I've called Charlie's Angels "brilliant", don't you? No, it's not Twister! >:(

No.7  The Remains of the Day (?)

Correct - that's Peter Vaughan in Remains of the Day. Pity you guessed it so quickly though - I had a beautiful pic of his runny nose coming ahead (actually, that looks more like sweat, don't you think?):

I'll update my previous post with the correct answer. And I'm adding a new photo there from no. 1, so refresh the page in your browser.

No I don't :-* ;D haven't seen Twister so have no idea if/how bad it is. On the other hand I have seen Fearless and even considered it briefly as an answer in one of your previous rounds (car crash scene from Adaptation). Oh, well... ::)

2) Hint (?): An extremely controversial film, as most others by this director are.

5) Hint: book adaptation which departs from the original by making one of the main characters (the one pictured on the right in the first photo) far more ambiguous than in the novel.

Sidoze was referring either that the blonde to which the arrow points (arrow gets little off mark in the quote) was served as dinner later in the movie (wouldn't know, haven't seen it myself) or that he lost his dinner upon seeing the movie (in the general direction of the force of gravity.

Film is pretty good but the book is brilliant. His next book, The Unconsoled, is one of the most imaginative and inventive literary works I've read. Even after three or four times it's still breathtaking.

QuoteI thought he simply wanted to say she looked appetizing..

yeah, but if that's Cate Blanchett forget about it.

Actually, I film is extremely faithful to the novel and personally I think it is better, thanks to the peerless acting. I generally dislike Merchant-Ivory movies but this one is an exception. Rarely before have I had the impression that the actors know these characters and their story better and understand them deeper than the author... :o

All IHMO of course. ;D

She only comes in later.

Didn't know you had anything against her - I think she's a brilliant actor, awe-inspiring, impeccable technique! Her sketch in Coffee and Cigarettes is great, BTW!

Try The Unconsoled if you have some free time.

Not sure how you worked out that an actor could understand the character better than the author, but okay

I don't. I just meant I wouldn't be hungry

I will. I have (and like) his other books: A Pale View of Hills and Never Let Me Go. I think I have one more but can't remember what it is...? :-\
