Remember Russian Symphony Month? And French Impressionism Month? And Shostakovich string quartet month? Any interest in doing another one of those? What topics would y'all be interested in?

For the poll options I just put in some categories of music that have popped up in the Polling Station forum recently, plus a couple random thoughts I had. Don't take 'em too seriously. :)

I think it's a great idea, Brian. I'm all for it.
Also, I was just thinking the other day it had been a while since GMG had a good blind listening comparison thread.
But I would certainly participate/contribute in all of them.

I like all the suggestions, esp. Diamond Dust Schus.  I'm down.
My vote goes to Banana Month.

November: Non-SQ Chamber Month
December: Mythic String Quartet Month

May I suggest Music Inspired by Nature Month?

I like that one, Kyle.  Good suggestion!  :)

You may, and we can start with An Alpine Symphony!  :)

Be careful what you wish for.  It's a great idea, but I'm already reaching for the Alvin Lucier, David Dunn, John Cage, Eric La Casa, etc etc etc
That is actually a great idea!  It's bananas.

I say we devote the month of November to Soviet music. So listeners dust off your Mosolov and Shebalin recordings, it's go time!!!

Nice idea! Didn't know you were familiar with Shebalin's music, John-he's a very fine composer. Someone needs to reissue those Olympia recordings of his music, and fast!

Sure, yeah, I'm somewhat familiar with Shebalin's music. I've got one of those Olympia recordings of his Symphonies 1 & 3 (I think?) somewhere in one of my many piles. :)
