Due to the boards recent interests in music for a particular event (marriage, funeral etc.), i am here to ask for recommendations for the obvious - one's birthday. It doesn't have to have a particular use behind it (i.e. party background, would be nice though), maybe something for a person who is celebrating his/her birthday to indulge in on personally. Suggestions?

Have a great one, George. Hope you're enjoying your 'present'. ;)

Durch alle Töne tönet
Im bunten Erdentraum
Ein leiser Ton gezogen
Für den der heimlich lauschet.

Howard be thy name.

Who listens to classical music at a party? Parties are for big, dumb loud music!

Birthday... Birthday... Oh, that! :P

Apologies for my being as rude as to take this long to actually add my wishes to the list. Anyone's birthday is worth giving the best of wishes for: so a late happy birthday from me, too. :)

As for birthday music, I've got my own birthday coming up on the 19th, and it's likely going to mean listening to quite a lot of Mahler. ;)

Happy birthday George. Celebrate it with Beethoven's Quartet opus 59/2 by the Janacek Quartet.

Yes, I am an all or nothing guy and since it was my birthday, I chose "all."  ;D

Belated happy birthday George! :)

To answer the question-- my tradition is now to listen to my favorite work on my birthday, and that is Beethoven's Archduke Trio. :)

Thanks!

Do you have Richter's version? If not, there may be a download birthday present in your future.  :)
