For those of you who have no idea what this is:
http://www.amazon.com/Russo-Street-Music-Gershwin-American/dp/B000060O5D/
Also available as a JSACD.

True it's not something you want to listen to every day, but when the mood is right...

Unforunately, these's more to Russo than's been recorded, and some major pieces (Bernstein conducting his second symphony, which he commissioned if I recall correctly) have never been released on CD except on pricey box sets.

So who else likes these?

I bought Ozawa/SFSO recording of Street Music when it was released and enjoyed it quite a bit, probably hearing it at least two or three times a year.  But I gave it up nearly twenty years ago when divesting myself of possessions.  I haven't heard it since, though have considered purchasing the CD from time to time.  I think I'd like to hear it again first, for I've little sense of how appealing I would find it today.

I checked the Amazon link but couldn't find the SACD version - any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's a J-SACD, so you have to go to J:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%AB%E3%83%83%E3%82%BD-%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%83%88%E3%83%BB%E3%83%9F%E3%83%A5%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B8%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF-%E3%83%96%E3%83%AB%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B9%E3%83%BB%E3%82%B3%E3%83%B3%E3%83%81%E3%82%A7%E3%83%AB%E3%83%88-%E5%B0%8F%E6%BE%A4%E5%BE%81%E7%88%BE/dp/B0006GAYAE/

I (briefly) compared the CD and the SACD and didn't find it a *whole* lot better. It definitely has more detail, but the redbook CD is pretty good to begin with. I studied composition with Russo and thought I'd splurge on the upgrade.
