I was on Twitter and entered a UMG contest and won a four foot by four foot poster - SIGNED by Yuja Wang. I'd post the original but don't know how to upload a photo. So here's the online image:

Nice!  Although I could have done without the Tiffany lamp effect.  But beggars and choosers are mutually exclusive sets, donated equines should not be subject to oral examinations, etc.

The colors are nice actually.

That is cool...and besides looking great, she's a great pianist.

"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

I don't like the way she's "orientalized" in that photo.

Me either. She's much more attractive all natural.

Yeah, I enjoy the one album I own and the rest of her stuff is on Spotify.

My wife dropped $250 to frame her. :)

Makes me wonder, for the umpteenth time, how many fabulous female musicians will never get a record contract because they aren't photogenic or attractive?
It's all good...

The violinists are especially babical these days.

Most of them. The good news is, equality is on the way: now the same applies to male musicians as well.

Though some of my favourite violinists are pretty low on the eye-candy scale: Isabelle Faust, Viktoria Mullova, Amandine Beyer, Kyung-Wha Chung (at least nowadays...)

I disagree.  She's aged very well, and has a certain glow about her--maybe coming from a life lived doing what she loves... 8)

Well, I mean, she's definitely good-looking and has a real 'presence' on stage, but is unlikely to be a cover girl candidate or appear in any perfume advertisements in the near future, something that is more difficult to say of the likes of Alina Ibragimova (who is also one of my favourite violinists).

Ibragimova is my favorite. I must hear her play sometime.

I've had the good fortune to hear Yuja Wang play a concert with the Philadelphia Orchestra - she was amazing. I understand she's a former Curtis student and perhaps for that reason has returned for performances the past few seasons.

Thank goodness!  That kind of "beauty" is fleeting; real beauty ages well, like a good wine or Ms. Chung herself.

Is this the only Yuja thread? I just came here to say that it's impossible not to like her. She's fun. How many other classical musicians can you say that about? I know, it's not high on the list of necessary qualities. Well, I'm just watching clips of her playing and talking about music. I don't actually own any of her recordings as I don't actually get into her repertoire. I wonder if she'll venture into different musical territories.
