Kullervo

1 is Scary Movie. :)

3rd round, 2 left to go.

The sound clips again plus previous shots plus new shots and other hints. The hints are a bit oblique, I have to admit. ::) But what would the fun be in giving the answer's away too soon? ;) I'm going away on Saturday, so you can be sure that if no one guesses in this round, I'll try to think of more straightforward clues tomorrow 8):

6) [mp3=200,20,0,left]http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/25/1381505/MM06.mp3[/mp3]

The actress who debuted as one of the main characters in this film is currently starring in a German-American co-production, playing the part of a girl whose name is the same as that of the main (title) character in no. 7.

7) [mp3=200,20,0,left]http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/25/1381505/MM07.mp3[/mp3]

Anna Gornostaj plays the title role in this film, and yet you couldn't say she is properly credited - no one really associates her name with this film (which is pretty well known, BTW).

Maciek

I believe there might be some serious forehead-slapping ahead (re no. 7)... 0:)

More photos for no. 6. It is not a very good movie, in fact, I think it's quite bad. Some of the photography is very good. Some of the sets are great. The costumes are beautiful. Some of the acting is mind-boggling (makes the film definitely worth watching) but some of it is outrageously bad. The script is terrible. The film is by a very famous director. It is based on an epic poem. The poem in turn alludes to various other works, including Homer, Goethe's Herman und Dorothea and Jan Kochanowski's poetry. The photos will let you narrow the time of the action pretty accurately... ;D

No. 7 is a film that takes place in two different countries. The first of these photos is the very first shot of the film:

ah okay, I know 7.

Well, that alone doesn't really count... ::)

Besides, I think you're bluffing. >:D

Whoever says the title first is the one to get the prize! 8)

I am not. I posted something about it earlier this year in the film thread. It's not one of the films I like most by this director. Can't be bothered to say what it is though. If I'm not mistaken you guessed that one of my quiz shots was it.

Maciek

Wow, you can be bothered to write 4 sentences about it but can't be bothered to give the title? What's with the sulking?

I'm still leaving that one open.

He's the same guy as the one on the horse several pictures up. He's not Domingo though, sorry to disappoint you. There isn't much singing in the film, IIRC. ;D

You've spent too much time with children if you need to say something ilke that to an adult.

Just name it and get it over with. I don't even think the film is very good.

(Pan Tadeusz - no one even tried :'()

Hm, if I had been around, I would have guessed it, Maciek. (Mickiewicz' Pan Tadeusz has been translated into Dutch recently, btw)

Hi Johan!!! :D :D :D So nice to see you around! 8)

Have you seen the Andrzej Wajda film of Pan Tadeusz? It was lauded to the skies over here but I really don't think it was very good. In my opinion, it's only worth watching for Andrzej Seweryn's acting (and perhaps also Michal Zebrowski's who is very good too). But then that's only my opinion... ;D (It wasn't much of an international success though - if that's any indication of anything.)

(If you want more of my opinion ;D, the only really good film based on Mickiewicz's poetry is Konwicki's Lawa - that is a masterpiece, though it requires a pretty good knowledge of Polish culture in general, and specifically Dziady)

Here is an easy test with movie posters this time. I am revealing only a small portion of the whole of course, in case you are stuck -which I don't think- I may reveal more to help you out. Movies are not necessarily favorites, but all these posters are pretty well known.

Cool idea though.  Keep them coming.  1 and 4 have me stumped, though 4 looks Eastwoodish.
