Says the guy who listens to techno  ;D

Quality "techno". Most of techno music is even more stupid than rock.  ::)
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

I must say I don't listen to much rock nowadays; when I do it's almost invariably these:

Beatles
Stereolab
High Llamas
Who
Tim Buckley

I do think very high grades should be given Vampire Weekend, who are putting the pop back in pop - they are clever, inventive and fun.  Remember when fun was the operative word for this music?

Pink Floyd
Van der Graaf Generator
Jimi Hendrix
Smashing Pumpkins
dEUS

Not saying they're "the best," just my faves, per thread title:

The B-52's
The Creatures
The English Beat
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Talking Heads

Runners-up:

Blondie
Gang of Four
R.E.M.
Romeo Void
The Specials

Pretty sensitive for a death dealer.
Perhaps MnM Dealer would be more fitting.  0:)

Nice list, Henk. I have a love/hate thing going on with Van der Graaf Generator right now. Pink Floyd are one of my favorites. I like Smashing Pumpkins a lot (loved Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness, Siamese Dream). Hendrix was an early fave, but I don't listen to much of his music nowadays, but I respect what he did for rock music of course. I never heard of dEUS before. I'll have to Google them. 8)
