The algorithm often makes these mistakes, then cancels orders the next day. We'll see what happens.

It says 170 Euros now (instead of 17--looks like someone just dropped a zero).  We'll have to see if they'll make good on our orders.  If it was an Amazon mistake, I'd think it was very probable, but as it is an associated seller, I am skeptical they can take that big of a hit...we'll soon know, I guess.
It's all good...

'Twas Amazon.fr itself.

See BB, had you given me your credit card number and authority to hold such purchases for you, you'd have one on order!

I ordered it in order to give it as a gift. So if they cancel my order, it won't be a great tragedy.

After all, I already have the same box under discussion (acquired several years ago for around $250) and the Bach Edition on Teldec which also includes the complete cantatas.  :)

When I clicked the link, it took me to a list of sellers, and one was 17 Euros...anyway, it's ordered, and I received a "receipt".  My fingers are crossed.

Mine said 20 and a bit but the VAT came off.

Bach : L'Intégrale des cantates Sacrées (Coffret 60 CD)
Vendu par Amazon EU S.a.r.L.

Market research: will even brats outsell Adele if you cut the price enough?

A more interesting question would have been, will Gardiner outsell ...

Silly??  I don't know about that, though mistakes do happen.  Thankfully though my Beethoven Masterworks Sony boxset purchased for about £28 (THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR ALERTING US TO IT  8))  from amazon.de just SHIPPED! Who knows amazon.fr might well honor the price mistake they made on that Harnoncourt/Leonhardt sacred cantatas boxset.

For those of you who might get lucky.....WELL DONE!  :)

"Sale at a loss, which is prohibited by law"? That sounds fishy.

Too bad about the cancellation!

It's called "dumping"  :D I imagine there's zillions of EU directives prohibiting it... But I wanted my Bach / brats set !!!!  >:( >:( :( :( And I really don't give a hoot whether amazon was going to make a loss or not on this specific transaction !!!!    :D :D

Actually it sounds all too plausible. "loss leaders" are items sold below cost to attract customers, like milk at 5 cents at the 7-11. Lots of people do not like competition so they try to restrict it. This is a common one alas.
Of course the Azon algorithm could have a simple check in it
if price < cost then
but does not for some reason.

I got cancelled too.

As I recall it is part of the same French law which forbids running sales at any time of the year other than July and August---that came up last year regarding Abeille's sale.

I liked your message, Ken: after the aseptic analysis, the sentence "I got cancelled too" does a nice effect.

It's a sort of "I'm human too, pals."  ;D

French law.  Same law that stopped amazon from having discounts and free shipping at the same time.  Amazon's solution was to charge 0.01 euro for shipping! ha!
