It varies.

For instance, 0 (zero) would be appropriate for the following:

The number increases with the quality of the recording, so I choose the only sensible option: banana.
The universe is change; life is opinion. - Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

People would rather believe than know - E.O. Wilson

Propaganda death ensemble - Tom Araya

Which recording have you listened to the most?

Premont says 16.

OK.  ::)

There are recordings I could listen to every day, if I had the time.

On the other hand I usually listen to a recording two or sometimes three times before I relegate it to the dustbin.

These are the extremes, everything is possible in between.

Probably it would be a piece of music which is very rarely recorded, but which I love, so that my choice is restricted. I think it might be the Naxos recording of Roussel's Suite in F. I have listened to that about once per month for the last 3 years.

I'll just leave this here.

Don¨t know. Probably Helmut Walcha´s recording of the AoF, even if I have not listened to it recently.

Being the owner of 126 recordings of this work I can not listen to HW every time.

Probably something by Led Zeppelin.

Zero. One should instead form opinions on a particular recording from looking at the cover art, reading the liner notes and testing the CD's ability to be skipped across bodies of water.

One should listen as many times as one likes, hence banana.

Something by the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Linda Ronstadt, Miles Davis, or Mahler (Bernstein/CBS).

A million.

The entire recording should be compressed so that it is a millionth of a second long and looped a million times so that it can be listened to a million times in exactly one second. It's called "speed listening," and it's good for people with scarce time to listen to music.

No idea.  And I rather enjoy that I have no idea :)

If paulb were here, his answer would be "once, and only to a 60-second clip."
