Doesn't anyone see what is really happening here? Snyps just realized that Caroline Wozniacki is available and he's trying to impress her with his knowledge of Denmark.

I like that it's a monarchy.

Precisely.

And then Kierkegaard, Andersen, Henrik Pontoppidan.

Plus, they speak a language so unpronouncable that even they cannot understand themselves:

Very funny.  :D

Seriously now, can you as a Norwegian understand a bit of Danish?

The new erato

Yes, if they speak correctly and clearly. Reading it is VERY easy. Pronounciation however can be a nightmare occasionally.

Hvor står fuld månen over kløverengen
så dejligt som i bøgens fædreland?
Du danske, friske strand,
hvor Danebrogen vajer, -
Gud gav os den, - Gud giv den bedste sejer!
Dig elsker jeg! - Dig elsker jeg!
Danmark, mit fædreland!

Engang du herre var i hele Norden,
bød over England, - nu du kaldes svag,

I grønne ø'r, mit hjertes hjem hernede!
Dig elsker jeg! - Dig elsker jeg!
Danmark, mit fædreland!

(H.C.Andersen 1850)

In Denmark I was born there, I have at home,
there my roots, there my world goes.
You Danish language, you are my mother's voice,
as sweet blessed you my heart when.
You Danish, fresh beach,
Where ancient barrows
stand apple orchard and hop garden.
You I love! - You I love!
Denmark, my native land!

How well nests summer flower bed
more abundant than here, down to the open beach?
Where does the full moon of clover
as nice as in the beech homeland?
You Danish, fresh beach,
where the Danish flag waving, -
God gave us the, - God give the best victory!
You I love! - You I love!
Denmark, my native land!

Once you master was in the Nordics
welcomed over England - now you are called weak
a small country, and yet so far on the ground
than ring the song and chisel of the Danes.
You Danish, fresh beach,
ploughshare golden horn finds
God grant you the future. he gave you memories!
You I love! - You I love!
Denmark, my native land!

You land where I was born, where my home is,
where my roots, where my world began,
where the language is my mother's soft voice
and like sweet music to my heart when.
You Danish, fresh beach
For swans nest
The green islands, my heart's home down here!
You I love! - You I love!
Denmark, my native land!

So I did. Some of the poetry is lost, but the content is reasonable.

Then I will, but not before trying to figure out what it means based on my knowledge of English, Dutch and German.

Oh, I see you edited it.  :D
