Thanks. I should have chosen Sibelius - probably his greatest. I much prefer it to his more popular No. 5.

Lloyd's greatest and the Magnard is very moving as is the Franz Schmidt. I should have made it eight choices.  ::)

Six is incredibly limiting when contemplating favorite Fourths. There are so many.

Not too fond of Bruckner's. I certainly should revisit Magnard's and Schmidt's which I have in my shelves and have heard some time ago but do not remember much about. Also Shostakovich's which is so long and dark that I have not often found the mood and leisure to listen to it.

In such lists I usually also consider how much I like the piece compared to the other by the composer. Therefore no Beethoven but Sibelius because the 4th is my favorite among the latters symphonies. Similarly with Ives and Nielsen.
