Found affordably at an AmSpain MP seller, and duly ordered:

[asin]B0001TSWPU[/asin]

This means I'll probably pass on a Munch / RCA big box if it ever comes out, and just look for the things I'm interested in as single issues (his Beethven, his Ravel, his Debussy)...

This was the first box I ever acquired!  Terrific.  The only complaint I have is . . . there is a repeat in Harold en Italie which they disregard.  A technical disappointment, but not by any means a deal-killer.  Wonderful music-making, and a set which opened my ears to the (potential) pleasures of even "historical" documents.

Thanks for the comment, Karl!   :) It's good to know I'm up for something great with this ('cause it was "affordable", but not cheap by any means--and to think its was super-budget when it first came out  >:( ). Do you know if that missing repeat was a decision of Monsieur Münch lui-même, or just the result of a sloppy transfer to CD?  ::)

And the prospect of Les Nuits d'été with Victoria de los Angeles is...yummy (my benchmark in this being Eleonor Steber under "Mitteleuropoulos  ;) ")...

Cheers,

Sounds like the performers meant it, although IIRC the "net gain" was only about 12mm. of time . . . it baffles me why they struck that repeat.

I'm now waiting to see if my favorite Amazon MP seller (Classical Music Superstore) will get the other Oramo Nielsen recordings in-stock.
Remind me, is that the one that's Naxos?

Cheers,

Like Bruno Walter, Munch never met a repeat he liked. Even in Beethoven 5:I or other obvious repeat marks.

Yes, Naxos of America actually.

Went ahead and bought the rest of the Nielsen Oramo recordings from another seller:

Purchased yesterday, from a private Dutch online "marketplace seller" (site that is literally called marketplace (Marktplaats), comparable to Craigslist).
I've done business with him before and he has a nice selection. But he usually skims off bargains that are elsewhere (outside of the Netherlands), so it is usually cheaper to get it directly.
Once in a while he has some unique bargains or stuff that has disappeared elsewhere:

All items are OOP, except for the last two that are just a treat to celebrate... :D

The blurry picture is the 1st part of Enrico Gatti's L'Arte del Violino in Italia. It has been reissued with part 2 by Glossa (recommended! :)), but since I already have the 2nd part this was the cheaper option.
The CPE Bach organ concertos have also been reissued in one of those DHM boxes, but since I already have the rest on the content I settled for this original issue.

You will find that one interesting.  I don't remember if there are serious cuts there, and I am 900 miles away from my CDs at the moment so I can't check.

That was btw the only CD I ever bought which I found through the Worst Cover Art thread.

Becoming obsessed with Berio's Folk Songs and Sinfonia, been listening to various recordings on Spotify. Haven't heard this one but have read good reviews and sanantonio gave it thumbs up as well. More purchases of these works will follow...

The 3rd is seriously cut, none of the others I think.

There is uncut 3rd from Mitropoulos, and a fine one it is, from Koln. Used to be on Tahra, currently on ICA Classics.

This is THE recording to have of course, as the work was written with her style and special abilities in mind and with her contribution as well. I first knew about this recording when it was given to me by their daughter. I have treasured it ever since.
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.
