It's polling time again. Time to pick your Top 5 Favorite Works of Berg's. There are no stipulations for this poll.

Here are my picks (in no particular order):

Violin Concerto
Three Pieces for Orchestra
Lyric Suite (doesn't matter about which arrangement --- I love them all)
Wozzeck
Der Wein

Since he wrote so very little (only about 20 works all told), there's not a huge list to choose from. But mine would be: Wozzeck, Lulu, the Chamber Concerto, the Three Pieces for Orchestra, and the Altenberg Lieder. Lyric Suite as a runner up. Not as enamored of the Violin Concerto.

This is true, but it's still fun to think about nonetheless. I can't say I'm a great fan of the Chamber Concerto. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

Nah not the whole opera. The suite as it stands is like the perfect 2nd Viennese school concert work for me.

"5 works" represents ca. 25% of Berg's output, so this one is "mathematically" easier than other such polls  ...
