I'm having a bit of a rococo phase and C.P.E. Bach has remained pretty unexplored composer for me. So, I bought this:

Hi Poju - that 30-disc box should be a great introduction to CPE Bach, who I enjoy - just looked at my database and have about 70 CDs of his music, nearly all instrumental - just over a year ago, I did increase that number by 50% w/ the purchase of the 26-CD box added above - OH MY!  Enjoy - Dave :)

Thread duty:

This recording comes recommended from DaveF (my Nielsen buddy). I also opted for the better looking issue of this recording as well. ;)

Just bought:

I've been wanting to explore some of Cambodian-American composer Chinary Ung's music for years, so I was quite thrilled to find the all-Ung recording with Gil Rose/Boston Modern Orchestra Project (was released last year). The Dennis Russell Davies recording on Argo is another nice little trinket for myself. :)

I will be interested to read what you eventually think of that set [CPE Bach Edition].
I'll try to write something, but don't hold your breath.  ;)

Dave, I don't know if I need 70 CDs worth of CPE Bach, but the Brilliant Classics boxset seems like an economic way to explore the music of this man. At first I was going to buy the Brilliant Classics twofer of cantatas, but the large box includes that twofer and much much more for 1.75 euros per disc delivered.   :)

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

BMOP is a GREAT label - always love their booklets, production quality, and of course the performances themselves. Music isn't always my cup of tea, but there are 8-10 albums on BMOP Sound that I love.

EDIT: Hmm, just checked the BMOP website. There's a new CD of concertos by David Stock that looks cool, including an "oboes" concerto where the soloist must also play bass oboe, cor anglais, oboe d'amore, and musette.

Yeah, it's a great label. I'm very selective about what I buy from them and since I was interested in Chinary Ung's music, this seemed like as good of a time as any to buy their recording.

A wise decision!

Continuing to piece this cycle together.

I found it !!  It is a used copy and it comes from England, which means it will take a lot of time to arrive.

I do not have much music by Hindemith in my collection and I was very impressed with a recent purchase featuring Perényi so....

Continuing to piece this cycle together.
It's a great cycle, sadly underrated. THink of it as Szell in much richer sound.

(With thanks to Wanderer for his input)

This landed today, together with the Brilliant Borodin Edition, the Naxos box of Reger organ music, the Naxos set of Schuman symphonies....four stout parcels.  Mailwoman must have wondered what was going on.
