Vaughan Williams - String quartet nos. 1 & 2; Phantasy quintet (Maggini Quartet, Naxos)



Not total masterpieces, but there is something appealing about RVW's quartets. I still class him as a excelling most in symphonic, choral and songs, though.

Too long. Begins well, but doesn't seem to know where to stop. Not that impressed with Mendelssohn the symphonist, actually.
