Dancing Divertimentian

Veit Bach-a baker who found his greatest pleasure in a little cittern which he took with him even into the mill and played while the grinding was going on. In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

I'm a solid devotee of his Sony Harris 3.
Update: The Harris is excellent, but the 1966 is excellenter. Excellentest in fact.

Started the Mercury Living Presence 2 box tonight
This is CD 1
[asin]B0000057KO[/asin]

Finished listening to the Naxos set of Schuman symphonies this afternoon.
Need a few relistens, but 8 impressed me most.

And I like Schuman's symphonies more than Schumann's symphonies.

Now:

Listening to Symphony No. 4, "The Inextinguishable," Op. 29, FS 76. Outstanding symphony and performance.

Now for something completely different:

String Quartet #8 in E Minor op. 59/2

Wakefield

One of the best recordings of these piano trios that I have heard:

Autumn Leaves

Now playing:

Symphony #2
Another week at work survived - time to unwind with some Friday evening listening :D

Harry

This is a surprisingly well recorded organ disc with music of unknown composers, but by no means slight music. It actually is of a high level.
Recommended.

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

"When Time hath gnawed our bones to dust, yet friendship's echo shall not rust"

Autumn Leaves

Now playing:

Symphony #9 for a first listen.

for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Harry

My second rerun through this box, and one I like very much, both for the music and interpretation.

nor in competing for the favor of wayward friends.
His only competition was with himself. — Françoise Gilot

The new erato

Of course there are several Schumanns, Georg and Camillo comes to mind..

How do you like Kodama's Messiaen?

That's maybe the second time I heard the piece, and the only recording of it that I have, can't really judge. Her playing in rest of the disc is clear, crisp, precise, minimal pedalling, sharp attack, maybe lacking in last ounce of abandon here and there but generally the kind of playing that I like.
