A bit on the extroverted side, but suits the music.

Had my first real introduction to the music of Rautavaara today. Beautiful, engaging and mysterious. Excited to keep going....

Very nice, Greg. I need to explore Rautavaara's music again as it's been years since I've done so. Symphony No. 7, "Angel of Light" is an outstanding work.

I tried some of the Naxos recordings, and was left stone cold uninterested.  How do the Ondine recordings compare

Reger's organ music is turning out to be a must have.

I don't really know the Naxos recordings, Jeffrey, so I can't make any comparisons. Rautavaara has a tendency to sound same-ish once you listen to a few works back-to-back, but, for me, Symphony No. 7, "The Angel of Light" was one of the best works that I remember. Listen to the Segerstam recording.

Frankly, I had forgotten all about this disc with trio sonatas by JS & Sons WF + CPE.... ::)
Some nice music making, but I'm wondering if I really need it...

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Another encounter with the Hilliards, and a reacquaintance with a recording from my past. New acquisition and a first listen.

Finished this set.

Outstanding in every respect. Definitely one of my favorite Baroque sets.

This composer ranks high on my list. One of the greatest composers of his time. First listen, new acquisition.

It's been a Beethoven evening.

- Violin Sonata No.2 (Cerovsek, Jumppanen)

- Piano Sonata No.6 (Kovacevich)

- String Quartet No.2 (Tokyo Quartet)

- Symphony No.1 (Zinman, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich)

It's Martinů Monday!  Oh, yeah! (actually, it's Tuesday today but the Labor Day Holiday this past weekend means today is subjectively Monday and thus definitely in need of the Best of Bohuslav)
