[Matisse] was interested neither in fending off opposition,
nor in competing for the favor of wayward friends.
His only competition was with himself. — Françoise Gilot

Speaking of Vasily and the phrase "dangerously close"...

Vasily sez...

"This is pointy."

I find that completely – and wonderfully – mystifying. Did the cover designer go with that particular image because the cellist's last name is Karttunen? (Boom-tish!)
Ha!  :D
But you said it better than I could- "complely and wonderfully mystifying" is the perfect description.

I wish there were more cartoon characters in expressionist artworks like these. But it would be hard to create something as good as this- just look at that facial expression!

I'd be happy to modify some existing covers to include cartoon characters. Give me a few minutes...

I LOVE the cartoon covers - esp. the Beaux Arts groupies - CD labels should take note.

Egad!*

I've never been to Budapest (or Buda or Pest, back when they weren't together), so I'll have to take the record company's word for it that Lenny is indeed in that particular city.

But wow, what a non-photo of someone as supposedly prestigious as an orchestral conductor. (You know, someone in charge of a hundred or so people, all making great art – not someone who just rode their bike to the shops**.)

PS: As far as I know, it's spelled "gangsta".

(*Sorry about the strong language there.)

(**I know that conductors are human beings who can do more than just conduct – like ride a bike to the shops, for example – but I thought they were supposed to be presented to the world as magisterial figures in The Art of Music.)

It kind of looks like he is out for a jog in Budapest on a cool, late-Autumn morning.

I do still need to hear his MSPC, BTW. My #1 favorite piece of all time. Ever. In this universe. Amen.
Beethoven's Op. 133 -- A fugue so bad that even Beethoven himself called it "Grosse".
