I'm not sure this has been mentioned yet:

Interesting, I think - those works that can be heard on you-tube are quite lyrical and beautiful.

First batch of DECEMBER listings

CD 1: New York Lights, Fantasy Sonata, Three Dance Portraits, Spring Dances
CD 2: 12 Etudes, Night Pieces, Conversations with Andre, Estela Rag, Night Meditations
CD 3: Seven Romantic Pieces, The Brooklyn Dodge, Variations on a Theme by George Rochberg, Dream Music No. 1, Ballade

Liszt - Sonata in B minor
Beethoven/Liszt - Liederkreis from An die ferne Geliebte
Schumann - Fantasie Op. 17

Todd

Something unexpected and irresistible.

Also, two new LvB Concerto cycles are on the way, one from Jean Francois Heisser and one from Oliver Schynder, the latter's apparently part of a Beethoven project that hopefully ends up like FFG's Beethoven project.

And Gianluca Cascioli has a new LvB sonata disc coming out with Op 106 on it.  I'm pretty sure I am required to buy that one.

His website is awful.  A quick search revealed one LvB (106)/Berg CD from the turn of the century, and one live recording of Opp 106 and 109.  I don't know if the recording of 106 is the same for both discs, or if one of the recordings (assuming they are different) will be in this new cycle, which I had not see until this post.  I know my next optical disc cycle.

Awesome! I've sampled a couple of Kapustin's cello/piano works on YouTube - really enjoyable stuff. I also love his Cello Concerto no. 2, which proves that the cello can be jazzy 8)

This looks like it should be a great release - the Leighton and Jacob VCs have not been recorded before, to my knowledge.

Dare I even ask what this is? ???

Yes, because I was about to!

Elvis das Schaf is apparently a German kid's music character. There's a companion CD.

My guess is these are introductions to opera produced for kids.

Ah, so. Thanks, Jeffrey!

I was imagining the Queen of the Night's aria sung in a King of Rock'n'Roll voice ... :o :D

A-ha. Yes, they are described as "Opera radio plays" for children.

I can attest that the Queen of the Night's second aria is very popular with kids. Both of my daughters tried to warble it when they were young. The elder one, now 32 still erupts in bouts of coloratura from time to time.

Yes, checking out possible other recordings, I found out about that work, but haven´t heard it yet. It´s for cello and strings.

Spineur

The latest production from the Palazzetto Bru-Zane foundation.  Benjamin Godard Dante

I am surprised that they did not start with Jocelyn which had more success in its time and is still given here in France (rarely).
This is the famous berceuse from this opera sung by Nicolai Gedda

What a dreadful pose/setup by the photographer.

Still a disc that makes me curious!

The new Dessay/Legrand, too - quite enjoyed their first collaboration, I'm a sucker for Legrand (and even more so Legrand/Demy).
