Hi I am new. My name is Jessica. I really love classical music.  :)  :D
I recorded Pictures from an Exhibition into my mp3 player, but it's broken now, and gone forever.  :'(

jchen

You are very welcome Jessica. Tell us a bit more about your background.
I'll expect you will do us some good, and bring some fresh air into the mould. ;D

Well, it was written for piano to begin with (and is great to hear in that version), but I assume you're talking about the orchestral version, adapted by Maurice Ravel. And here's a really good complete performance of that one:

Always good to see younger folk taking an interest in serious mus ... dang, I shouldn't have said that. Another one lost. >:(

;D

Welcome aboard, Jessica. What other classical music have you heard, and which composers interest you the most at the moment?

My favorite composers are Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart  ;D
I mostly like music played by an orchestra. But violins and pianos and others are cool too.
There is this show called From the Top. I really like hearing that on the radio.
One of my favorite songs is the Four Seasons song.

A gateway piece for me when I was 19 were Bachs Brandenburg Concertos.

Have you tried those yet?  :)

You've chosen three excellent composers there, Jessica. Beethoven is a particular favourite of mine. :) I recently found that I've collected 18 complete sets of his nine symphonies. Do you know any of these?

As for Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, this is a fine quartet of violin concerti (that's the plural of 'concerto', by the way). Each one has three 'movements' - rather than 'songs' - and they actually come from a larger set of other concerti.
