Quote from: DavidW on April 25, 2025, 06:02:31 AMI feel confused. Upgrading speakers should provide pleasure. How could speakers that you've had for 22 years suddenly not work well with your room or equipment? Did you move to a different house? Sorry if you've explained all this in previous posts.

When I upgraded my speakers, I moved the old ones to the den to upgrade my home theater. Which meant that I still got use out of them.

I would have loved that too, but unfortunately it didn't work out. I have in my living room wall mounted Avalon speakers, in combination with a KEF pro subwoofer, and Atoll integrated amplifier and a separate Atoll DAC. This combination is technical perfect. When I connected the Avalons Ceramique, the synergy was not there. The periphery did not have enough quality to match the Ceramiques. I hope that explains it David.
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

Quote from: AnotherSpin on April 24, 2025, 09:13:12 PMFeel free to use whatever label feels familiar or convenient. I'd just gently point out that you seem a bit reluctant to trust your own impressions, relying instead on someone else's formulaic "knowledge". Is that how you usually approach things? It's kind of amusing ;)

This is your own fantasy.  You don't know how I treat my own impressions, what knowledge I possess, or where I came by it.

Of course I don't know — I can't possibly know — but what matters is that it doesn't trouble me in the slightest. Unlike people like you, who feel compelled to challenge the very idea that someone might be able to hear differences in USB cable quality, and insist they're wrong. And what's truly remarkable is that you do this without the faintest idea what knowledge or experience they have, or where they came by it ;)

Isn't it rather marvelous? Science, for all its triumphs, still can't explain the simplest of things — why humans yawn, what exactly stirs a gut feeling, or why the fine-structure constant may have wobbled across cosmic time. Yet, bless them, our earnest friends on the forum are quite convinced that a chap like @Harry simply cannot hear any difference between USB cables — because, you see, the physics have declared it impossible... Quite charming, really

If there was ever a time I wish I were still a mod, it would be now. What does all this nonsense have to do with Harry's journey with his speakers? Nothing, it is just more vitriol on both sides.

So the last thing I am going to change are two Nordost power cables for the  Ansuz Acoustics Mainz P2, Powercord, 2.00 Meters. It will bring more rest and stability, to my Eidolons.
Please refrain from all negative comments. This thread is meant to share my enthusiasm for Hi-Res equipment.

Specifications: Ansuz Acoustics Mainz P2 :

Merk : Ansuz Acoustics Denmark.
Model : Mainz P2Type : Powercord
Configuration : NL Schuko > C15 IEC
Connectors : High Quality Gold Plated Connectors In Aluminum Housing.

The Ansuz Acoustics Mainz P2 is the model above the Ansuz Mainz X2 powercord from Ansuz Acoustics in Denmark. The cable is finished to a very high standard with high-quality gold-plated connectors in an aluminum housing and effective shielding. The P2 series is a clear step forward compared to the previous generation of cables from Ansuz Acoustics, yet they have not become much more expensive. This fact ensures that new standards are set in the price/quality ratio of the cables from Ansuz Acoustics. The quality of sound is approximately the same, if not better, than the more expensive previous A (Aluminum) series from Ansuz Acoustics.
Sound characteristics: The Ansuz Acoustics Mainz P2 has an extremely natural and organic sound, just like all other cables and products from Ansuz Acoustics. Everything you hear is pure music, we can talk about the body of the bass and the detailing in the high. But at Ansuz Acoustics we don't need to talk about that, instead we talk about the enormous musical qualities that Ansuz Acoustics products bring with them. The more affordable Mainz P2 is absolutely no exception. The spatial image is large, airy and pleasant and you are immediately involved with the performers and the music.

From my experience with high-end components, I can confidently say that paying attention to power cables is well worth it — the improvements they bring consistently exceed expectations. In my own system, I've had excellent results with Nordost power cables; frankly, they turned out to be one of the best investments I've made. As for Ansuz cables, I'm not personally familiar, but I shouldn't be the least bit surprised if their impact proves even more impressive.

Ansuz cables are based on the Nordost topography, the technicians of Nordost made this cable, and then they started their own company Ansuz. So this is a cable that sounds like Nordost, only a little bit better. :)

I'm confused, that looks like a U.S. standard AC power plug. I thought in Europe a different connector is used.

I'm confused as I've seen a number of different outlets and plugs over the years in terms of European countries...maybe it's become more standardized?

The substantial difference is that the European standard is 220V, compared with 110V in the U.S. I believe there is more than one plug configuration used in various European countries.

Yes, I've known for a number of years about the differences in terms of voltages; I do remember traveling in Europe with different plug adapters though.

I am confused: are these power cables or sound cables?
