I primarily reside on Qobuz, so no problem! ;D The classical department is the biggest of all streamers, at least in Europe, and certified by Roon, which is even more important.
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

I also compared Q with other streaming services and it seems to fit best to my habits and sound system.

The description of a Gramophone Magazine podcast released July 28th says the entire Hyperion catalogue will be released in stages over the next year. If people want a current time frame.

An interesting occurrence w/ a new Hyperion CD ordered from BRO - included in a small order was the CPE Bach recording below - when I played the disc, multiple transient 'glitches' occurred - this was a sealed CD and presumably new - however, on looking at the surface, the disc appeared to be a CD-R (bluish dyed appearance) - I wrote  BRO and was promptly contacted - they immediately wrote to Hyperion and after some email exchanges confirmed that the disc I received was a CD-R (part of the last exchanges quoted below) - just FYI - Dave :)

ADDENDUM: I've been ordering from BRO for 15+ years and this is one of the first times that an issue occurred, so I'll continue to place orders w/ them. NOW, maybe Hyperion should have offered me a 'free' MP3 or FLAC download since I have the jewel box and booklet - :)

QuoteDear Dave,

As per below, you were correct. I'm astonished they didn't re-press this particular title. As it happens, we have no copies left, so we will credit your Visa/MasterCard on Monday morning for the $8.99 purchase price.

Best wishes,
Joe

Hi
It is a CDR so either replace or refund I'm afraid, apologies to the customer of course.
Let Ginny know either way

Best

That's just terrible.

Surprised they are already out of pressed copies of the Esfahani disc.

You might try ripping the CD-R if you have the equipment.  A computer drive may not be effected the way a standalone CD drive might be.  In particular, if you use something like dBPoweramp, EAC, or CueTools ripper, the ripping software can "verify" the PCM data.

I am happy I do not buy CDs anymore.

Thanks David for the suggestion - I've done that before and believe successful once, but will try again - just own the standard software but use to do a lot of ripping.  Certainly, worth a try.  Dave :)

This is a known issue with some pressings.  I contacted Hyperion when the same thing happened to me, and they shipped a replacement free of charge.  The hard part is you need to find the cd code which can be hard to read.

Just email Hyperion and I guarantee that in a week or less you will have a replacement.

Well, from my correspondence w/ BRO (+ theirs w/ Hyperion), there are no longer 'regular' CD pressings of that recording, and Hyperion told BRO to replace (if available; they are out) or refund my money - so Hyperion if they agreed would probably send me another CD-R, but the refund has already been credited to my card.  Dave

Concerning my 'defective' CD-R, I just ripped the disc and burned to a blank CD-R - software used has worked fine in the past but not the most sophisticated - the 'glitches' are still there - got a refund from BRO so no $$ lost to me - guess I could still do a MP3 or FLAC DL (of course, hoping for success).  Dave :)

Perhaps you discern some defects in the original recording? This album can be listened to on stream before buying the download.

Dave you might consider buying the flac download from the Hyperion site and then ripping it to cd yourself.  I actually just have a thumb drive of my digital downloads and cd rips.  And that drive is connected to my streamer.  I can then play any of that music on my stereo just as easy if not easier than playing a cd.

No the surface of the original looks pristine so I'm assuming there are some 'burn errors' when the Hyperion CD-R was made and these were duplicated in my attempt to make a new CD-R.  Dave

Hi David - I'm not as much into the purchased DL business anymore but in the past usually bought high bit-rate MP3 or WAV downloads, then burned them to CD-R to play on my CD player - I could certainly buy the Esfahani DL but not sure I need the recording (already have Belder and Procopio in these Wurttemberg and both are fine to my ears).  Thanks - Dave

I just do not understand the existence of CD-R in a commercial setting anymore.

It's a couple of years since Amazon tried to sell me two, but even then I thought it ridiculous. They frankly can't do any better than a customer burning a CD, so why even offer it?

Some Hyperion records have now appeared on Idagio  8)

Found about 3 for Hamelin, 9 for Hewitt.

Nothing yet for Takacs, Simpson., Isserlis, Hough...

PS:  Idagio really lacks a search facility by label.

It looks like Hyperion's catalog including all labels (it is an umbrella for multiple labels) has around 3900 albums.  That means roughly 70 a week to release it all in a year.  I suspect though that they will release a few hundred every month until it is done.

I can't imagine many situations where I'd want to search by label, other than right now!

Neither does Qobuz
