Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen

Mandryka

There's a sample streaming - nice piano. Style (op 69 barcarolle) is very dramatic, a little opera for piano.

Hopefully using a good selection of instruments like in Vol 1

I've found this series, which features a series of up and coming soloists, to be consistently good in both sonics and Mozartness.

Does anyone really like Mozart's concertos for multiple keyboards? I find them to be the only duds among his piano concertos.

If I have no other recordings available to listen to, and no other activities I can engage in, I find them moderately entertaining.

Good, but not great. On the other hand, the Sinfonia concertante K297b is just like the other Sinfonia concertante; I can't get enough of it!

That's why I keep a half dozen nine volts on my person at all times, so that I can promptly prod my tongue with it and avoid ever being left alone with my thoughts.

Why not just keep a copy of Mozart's concerto for two keyboards on your phone? Do you prefer the electrical shocks?

I like them as much as I like any of the other first 15 or 16 concertos. But when I reach for one of his concertos, it's usually from number 20 and higher.

The Perahia/Lupu recording is preferable to nine-volt tongue shocks; other recordings may or may not be.

I do.

I remember enjoying this one

Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen

This appears to be a straight reissue of the 1974 centenary edition, which I believe includes all of the recordings of Ives playing his own music.

Prestomusic lists the Trifonov only as a 3 LP set.
Seems to be American 20th/21st century music. But does it really need two versions of 4'33"?

I would argue, somewhat perversely, that this is one "work" that benefits from being recorded in multiple venues. Precisely because it rams home that the alleged composition is devoid of its own content.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.
