Very very future release, but Pittsburgh/Honeck are playing Bruckner 9 this weekend and recording it for release on CD in their series on Reference.

This just came out.  Positive impressions after sampling.

I'm not really sure if this belongs here, but The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings is getting a reissue (finally!), but, this time, with an added blu-ray audio disc of the complete score:

I hope the other soundtracks follow as I missed these the first time around.

Alas, there are too many recordings in this box of old and not authentic (not all), and much of the stuff I have already, but it's a bargain :)
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

I think I'm going to stick to the harpsichord sonatas set you recommended...  :)

That is an excellent idea ;)

A new recording of Prokofiev's Violin Sonatas typically wouldn't pique my interest, but Ms Conunova's accompanist is her frequent collaborator Michail Lifits.

People would rather believe than know - E.O. Wilson

Propaganda death ensemble - Tom Araya

Well, only vol.I comprising 3 CDs.

A more or less complete recording of Bach's keyboard music will amount to at least 35 CDs. So he has embarked on a very long journey.

And he's going to mix harpsichord with organ works....

I understand the conceptual merits but I"m not very keen on that, I think..

I think it quite depends upon his choice of instruments and his performance style.

I own his Clavierübung I, Organ triosonatas and one more CD with youthful Bach works. I would characterize these as promising as to his performance style.

"The Complete Work for Keyboard"? So is everything Bach wrote for keyboard just one massive meta-opus?

Q
Does he mix them on the discs or just in the sets?

QuoteRecorded in May 2017 on the Andreas Silbermann organ of 1718 (recently restored by the Blumenroeder Company) at Sainte-Aurélie's Church in Strasbourg, and on a harpsichord made by Émile Jobin, inspired by models he has restored (Ruckers 1612, preserved in the Musée de Picardie; Dulcken 1747, preserved in the Vleeshuis, Antwerp), the first volume of this complete works will bring together pieces composed between 1695 and 1705, under the title "The Young Heir", and will be released on 30 March 2018, the anniversary of Bach's birth.

I got quite excited for a moment there because I confused Benjamin Alard with Régis Allard. Oh well . . .

Yes, he is a more mature musician than Benjamin, at least judged from his AoF (the only Bach I know of he has recorded)and the Scheidemann recording. Do you know if they are related?

Alard et Allard are as related to each other as Dupont et Dupond, Thomson and Thompson, Schulze und Schultze, Jansen en Janssen, et cetera. ;)

Well, you may be right, my fault.  But the spelling of the name is no proof of lack of relation. I have met examples of related people with different spellings of their last names, due to the fact that the priest had spelled one of the names wrong in the church book.

Say no more. I know. I'm an archivist by profession.

And you know what? I really do believe that Dupont & Dupond are related. :)
