Surely, you jest!!!

Not a big Handel fan here. Okay, so I've mostly heard the "popular" pieces which don't do squat for me--not really.

How about you?

Nah... democracy in music is BS... as it is in politics, as well.   8).

(And anyway, I'd vote Vivaldi over the other two!  ;D)

So would have Bach...but I'll take Joe over George by a good 60% 70% 90% (based on frequency of play).

The problem is that Beethoven, if he could vote, wouldn't find his option in this poll. ;)

Bach is greater than ANY other composers, Handel included, period.

Difficult to say that this would be universally accepted. Period.

With close to 1000 CD's/LP's in my collection, Bach is the most important composer to me and I cannot care less about what other think ...

No, you could not, indeed. After all, you'd look pretty silly if you woke up one day and by accident realized that Handel was somehow incredibly superior to Bach. [I'm not saying that he is, of course, because I face a similar conundrum.]

I care a lot about what other people think, including you, of course; otherwise I wouldn't participate in a forum like this one. And, knowing the excellency of Bach's music myself, I also know that there are powerful reasons that can lead you to consider him as "the most important composer to you".

Handel has always been among the top three to four most favorite composers to me.  That explains why there are not many of his recorded oratorios I do not own apart from almost 20 versions of Messiah ...

Handel is good. Bach is good. ::)

It's just for fun. Really! The results will not affect the musical universe in the least. I promise. I mean, jeez, look at my sig.

I meant grood. Great and good.

The sad thing is, I haven't updated it in a while. I've since acquired more.  :'(

Yup, they're both OK. I'm in Florestan's boat on this one. If I must listen to pre-Classical at all. :)
