OK, your boat leaves in 60 minutes and you can bring just 12 Rock Albums.

If a given album is 2 discs, it still only counts once. No compilations, no box sets.

Happy culling!  >:D

Just to clarify -- you mean ROCK as opposed to other non-classical genres?  ie would Johnny Cash or Louis Armstrong count?
The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus.
Let no such man be trusted.

Good point, as long as you consider it Rock, that's good enough for this thread. Let's assume that you have room in your suitcase for your other favorite genres. Heck someone wants to do a Jazz thread or a Pop one or a Country and Western one or an Electronic one or a Trip Hop one or an Industrial one or a Hip Hip one or a World one or a Tap Dancing Acappella Rick Astley cover band one, so be it.  8)

I have a feeling that's the best anyone will get from me on this thread.

Presumably I'm taking rock music to this desert island because the loud music will be better at attracting passing ships. I couldn't even begin to contemplate taking only 12 classical recordings to a desert island (I doubt if I could whittle it down to 120), but rock music is an easier task because I'm much less interested in it.

These are my 12, and remember it's my desert island, not yours:

Beatles -- Rubber Soul (UK version)
Beatles -- Revolver (UK version)
Beatles -- Sgt. Pepper
Beatles -- Magical Mystery Tour (US version)
Beatles -- Abbey Road
Yes -- Tales from Topographic Oceans
Yes -- Relayer
Beach Boys -- Pet Sounds
Brian Wilson -- Smile
Left Banke -- Walk Away Renee/Pretty Ballerina
Billy Joel -- The Stranger
Stevie Wonder -- Songs in the Key of Life
