There seems to be a remarkable outbreak of sexual references on this forum today :o

There are erections in this thread. There is lurid discussion of Benjamin Britten's alleged interest in young boys in the Composers' Dirty Laundry thread(General Music Discussion). There is masturbation in one of the Mozart Threads in the Composer Forum. We have had a member talking about his lust for Greek girls in another thread.

I would just like to point out that for elderly gentlemen like myself, of a nervous and sensitive disposition, this is getting decidedly dangerous for my blood pressure :( ;D

I agree Colin and am inclined to go along with one of the characters once played (somewhat out of usual character) by Benny Hill who, in response to the question "Do you believe in sex before marriage?" replied; "Certainly not. I do not believe in sex before marriage and am none too sure about it afterwards".  ;D
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

Hello again! :)

Good to see our lepidopterists back in action.  Welcome back Corey.

Oh.

What I wonder is how this thread and its volume looks to a new member who might (per the header) come here with the purpose of introducing himself . . . .

Could this possibly be worse than what did happen when some poor sap apparently to introduce himself a few days ago?   ::)

Looks like another one left the GMG flock.  "nut-job"

He is posting @ CMG now.

What, exactly, is CMG? I googled it, but there were a lot of entries. classicalmusicgroup.net didn't seem to be a forum, but rather Peter Hubner's website.

classical music guid. Avoid the Corner Pub, or whatever its called. The music section however is in pretty good shape right now.

Thanks, Herman.

EDIT: I went and checked it out. Of course, since you said avoid the Corner Pub, that's the first thing I looked at. I recall happening upon that forum a long time ago, and not joining--way too nasty. That Saul Chanukah guy proves those people are their own worst enemies.

CMG is managed by a woman who is a full and fanatical racist who
hates anyone who is not an extreme right wasp. Discussions on the Corner pub are IMO extremely nasty and aggressive. There's an other
manager who seems to have all the recordings ever made, does not
mix on the Corner Pub and is a nice guy.

Oh man, Saul is on CMG now? I thought he repented his evil ways, but I guess he just left GMG for different forums after he made an enemy of 95% of our active userbase...

Saul, repent? I admire your sunny optimism, Sara!

This is false, malicious, and bigoted slander of the most despicable sort.   She is none of those things, and she is not responsible for the nastiness that some posters bring to the Pub, but is responsible only for being extremely tolerant of a wide range of opinions--especially those differing from her own--and for keeping a light hand on the tiller as moderator, allowing almost anything that does not conflict with the forum's very clearly stated rules for conduct.  She even lets jerks like you spew your venom at her, but she doesn't pull her punches in calling 'em as she sees 'em, and further pisses off the bigots by citing facts and making carefully reasoned arguments to support her views.  You could learn a lot from her.

She even tolerates Saul, but keeps him restrained on a much tighter leash than the two or three equally bigoted morons who call themselves "liberal."

Finally, if you have a beef with her, why don't you take it up with her on CMG instead of slandering her here?  Could it be that you are one of the few extreme jerks that she or Lance have banned because you were too uncivil to comply with the forum rules?  And that you are nursing a grudge for it?  Perhaps you are not--but some here are, and some of the same folks have been banned from this forum as well and for the same uncivil behavior.

Yes, and I do like them both. The music portion of the forum is just too inactive and for the most part inconsequential to be of much value to me. That is all. I don't partake in political or religious discussions anyway.
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Not everything about my experience there was negative, though. I've had the very positive unintended consequence of wanting to check out Brahms' Symphonies again. I have never liked them very much, but as a result of reading a thread about why you love -- or hate -- Brahms' Symphonies, I'm listening to them "again for the first time." I heard, and rejected, Bernstein's and HvK's version(s?) years ago, Muti's more recently (last year), but listening to them on youtube today (Carlos Kleiber and Bohm so far), I'm enjoying them in a way I never have. I've ordered Marek Janowski's SACD versions with the Pittsburgh (where I live) Symphony from the library, and am considering buying Solti's box set.

So, even though I had to wade through a mess of gayhating and liberal baiting, I've emerged with something worthwhile. (I'm like this a lot with music. I never know when something's going to hit, and when it does, it can really take hold.)

Nor mine, hence my regular activity there, too.
