Just bought the last CPO Pettersson recording I needed...

Those are nice works - Pettersson at his more accessible.

This is good to know. I have known of these works for quite some time, but have spent a lot of my Pettersson listening on the symphonies and the VC #2. I can't wait to hear them.

Well, these aren't exactly "purchases" per se, I just borrowed them from Sydney City Library. But there's no "borrowing" thread so here they are.

Well, I wish I could revive this thread, but there are no libraries around (apart from the German cultural institute) with a stock of western classical music.

About these two (very cheaply) from an Amazon third-party seller:

I'm not very familiar with Bright Sheng, but listened to these two CDs briefly on Naxos Music Library and was very impressed. Kind of a Chinese mixture of Bartok, Stravinsky, and Bloch with some Varese thrown in for good measure.

Haha that bad eh? :D - I guess if it turns out to be a dud I still have my set of the Late Quartets with Quartetto Italiano! :).

Well, I couldn't bear it, but I'm sure others like it (such as the grandparents of the performers).   8)

Conor, I have this set and absolutely adore it!  Fantastic stuff.  Even some of his earlier string quartets aren't too shabby (not mindblowing), but not too bad.  The late quartets are out of this world.  Great sound and interpretations by the Melos Quartet.  You won't be disappointed.   :)

Well, I have absolutely no sympathy whatsoever for Conor.  I think it's a fabulous set.

These arrangements are not included in the "complete" Mozart collections (like K.572, the arrangement of Handel's Messiah).

Thanks Ray :) - I have listened to a few of the Discs from this set already and am very impressed. It wil be interesting to hear some of Schuberts earlier Quartets - Schubert is definetely one of my favourite composers of chamber music! :D.
